The Puppet Show of Memory, Brown, Little and Company (1922). Autobiography of Maurice Baring, born into privilege as part of a merchant baking family in 1874. He became known as a man of letters, a poet, novelist, travel writer and war correspondent. The navy cloth cover of this 100 year old book shows moderate signs of age and wear, including light staining and scuff marks along the edges. The hinges are creased but intact, and the binding is secure. There is a penciled note and an owner’s label on the front flyleaf (see photo). The early pages are very delicate, and one (the Coombe Cottage illustration) has become detached. Page edges are browned and worn. All interior pages, including the text, are clean and undamaged.
